Infertility and PCOS: fresh vs frozen embryo transfer matters

发布时间:2016-08-12 06:11:23 发布来源:Unidavis 作者:Elisabeth Aron, MD, MPH, FACOG

Takeaway

Frozen embryo transfer in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) may be better than fresh embryo transfer.

Study design

Randomized controlled trial comparing invitro fertilization (IVF) using fresh (n=762) vs frozen (n=746) embryo transfer in women with PCOS; women were recruited from multiple centers in China between 2013 and 2014.

Women with fresh embryo transfer also received progesterone for luteal-phase support, whereas women with frozen embryo transfer did not.

Numbers of live births and maternal complications were compared between the 2 groups.

Funding: Study funded by the National Basic Research Program of China, National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Thousand Talents Program.

Key results

There were more live births in the frozen embryo group compared to the fresh embryo group (49.3% vs 42.0%, rate ratio 1.17; 95% CI, 1.05-1.31; P=.004).
